Heaven and Hell in the mind of a 4 year old

Yesterday couldn't have been more beautiful so as a preface to some light yard work (ripping out bushes), I took the kids out to draw on the back patio. Our drawing is of a fire breathing dragon-the dragon at Nathan's request. He kept walking around it exclaiming, "I wyke (like) it! I wyke it!" I'm not much of an artist so I took Nathan's compliment to heart. I was thinking it looked more like the Energizer Bunny but I didn't tell him that. I thought the picture would be an appropriate launch into a quick story that happened last week.

Hannah and I have been having several casual conversations about Heaven and Hell. She likes to make up songs, especially when she's riding aimlessly and no doubt thinking because there's nothing else to do really. So she started in on one about Heaven/Hell and I could tell from the get go that she was confused about it all. However, she was perfectly content so I didn't interuppt her and just figured I'd work to straighten her theology out when she was done. When she had finished, I praised it saying how lovely her song was and that I love to hear her sing. Then I tried to sort out the content. She listened sweetly and thought for a moment and said...

"Mommy, I want to go to Hell with you. "

Oh, boy....let's try that again, shall we??

Only 9 short years...

I loved Hannah A.'s post from several weeks ago about her 17 years with Kevin and 17 things she loved about him so I wanted to do the same --because the Hailey's are celebrating 9 years tomorrow!!!
9. He believes date nights are important.
8. He enjoys physical work such as changing the oil in our cars or remodeling a house.
7. He hasn't given up yet on teaching me about the finances.
6. He loves my family.
5. He enjoys teaching his children about God and how life relates to God.
4. He loves his job.
3. He makes me laugh like no one else can when I'm tense.
2. In order that I may know Christ more, he defines two concepts for me on a daily basis-
"self righteousness" and "grace".
1. He loves people because he knows they need Jesus just as much as he does.

Happy Anniversary Ben!

The Mississippi Tour

Look who's engaged!!! (he told me to get the camera ready, i didn't just nose my way in their business, although i'm quite capable of doing such a thing) Uncle Caleb popped the question to Bonnie outside the McNair home, with romantic lake and fire in the background. The kids will soon have a new Aunt!

A visit with my dear friend Sara and her new baby, Darcy
A Granddaddy original design kids table-the top lifted off and fit on to the legs like a puzzle piece
Uncle Daniel or "dan-ul"
Making clay creatures with GaGa
Aunt Ann
Granddaddy fixed the go cart and took the kids on the ride of their lives! He and GaGa also fixed the first level of the treehouse so the kids could play up there. Uncle Caleb brought in two yards of sand so the backyard was ready for Grandbabies! And they had fun too. :)
Hannah with her sweet Mawmaw
Real Mississippi cows
Ben and the kids with Pawpaw, Ben's grandfather.
A tractor ride with Daddy
Say "cheese", mom
A wonderful husband and a beautiful daughter, just two of God's many blessings this Christmas.
Ben, Aunt Anna, Ben's Grandmomma (and the kid's great grandmomma), and Sheryl (ben's mom)-these three ladies have a growing family pottery business in North MS-living the dream! I guess it's a good thing we're in TX because I might have moved into their shop by now and become the fourth potter.
A quick visit with the Reillys
We had so much fun staying with Josh and SP. This picture is Hannah the dog, Meg the child, and Hannah the child. Now why on earth they named their dog Hannah is beyond me. But we love them anyway, and the dog too. :)
